The homeownership fairs we host and other resource fairs we attend are outreach efforts. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has set guidelines that require housing counseling agencies, like AHCOPA, to participate in outreach efforts. HUD guideline explains “The purpose of hosting community events is to actively reach residents where they live”. We decided to host homeownership resource fairs in neighborhoods that are historically overlooked. When organizing a fair, we connect with local leaders and organizations to develop an event that best serves the community's needs. For our Northeast Homeownership Fair, we partnered with the Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation to organize the event. On Saturday, the Register of Wills, Pennsylvania Health & Wellness, and various lenders that provide homebuyer assistance programs were present. previous outreach events, was overwhelmingly positive. This motivates us to continue developing and attending outreach events. Stay tuned for more! On May 3rd, we will host a homeownership fair in Delaware County. This summer we’ll also be hosting a fair in West Philadelphia. Sign up for our newsletter to keep up with our homeownership fairs and more!
